Blessing Jessica Obasi-Nze, who works under the name Blessing Obasi, played Mimi in the second season of Netflix’s Blood Sisters, released on 5 June 2026. EbonyLife had listed her among the new cast members more than a year and a half earlier, in October 2024.
She is a Nollywood actress and producer whose screen work predates that role. In a 2021 interview she discussed playing Deborah in Prophetess, and the interviewer pointed to her earlier parts in Elevator Baby and Game of Chess. In an interview reported on 18 October 2026, director Biodun Stephen said she gave Obasi her first lead role. Obasi is married to the actor Stan Nze.
Mimi in Blood Sisters Season 2
On 21 October 2024, BellaNaija reported that EbonyLife Media head Mo Abudu had announced season two of Blood Sisters, saying the project was in pre-production after a table read that followed 18 months of script development. The report named Blessing Jessica Obasi among the new faces joining a returning cast that included Ini Dima-Okojie and Nancy Isime. It did not say which role she would play.
Wikipedia’s entry for the series gives 5 June 2026 as the release date of season two and lists Obasi-Nze as Mimi, one of the characters added that season. Premium Times reviewed the season on 7 June 2026, scored it 7 out of 10 and ran a photograph of Obasi in the role. The Guardian Nigeria reviewed it on 13 June 2026 and gave it 6 out of 10. Both reviews singled out Kate Henshaw as the season’s strongest performer, and neither assessed Obasi’s performance in its text.
How Biodun Stephen Found Her
Stephen described how the working relationship began in an interview with ShockNG that QED reported on 18 October 2026. She said she met Obasi at a movie premiere, where the actress said she wanted to read for her. A meeting followed, and Stephen later watched Obasi play a scene on a set she was directing and cast her in further roles. Stephen said she gave Obasi and the actress Bolaji Ogunmola their first lead roles, and that both have since built careers as producers as well as actors.
QED also reported that Stephen, Obasi and Ogunmola are working together on a new film expected in 2027, and that the three had already collaborated on Hotel Labamba and The Progressive Tailors’ Club. The report did not name the new film or describe Obasi’s part in it.
Another Stephen-directed film with Obasi in the cast was Alechenu, which What Kept Me Up listed as opening in cinemas on 3 July 2026. That listing described it as Stephen’s second theatrical release of the year and named Mike Ezuruonye, Bimbo Ademoye and Femi Adebayo among the cast.
Prophetess and the Years Before Netflix
BellaNaija interviewed Obasi on 8 May 2021, when Prophetess had recently opened in Nigerian cinemas. She played Deborah in the Niyi Akinmolayan film and said she had worked with the director before. To prepare, she read the script repeatedly, arrived on location a week early, paid a tutor to teach her the Ibadan Yoruba dialect and visited white-garment churches to see how services were run.
In the same interview she described herself as an actor and producer, and said she had built a team that handles parts of her business so she can concentrate on others. She also spoke about early doubts: the first years were hard, she said, partly because she held a well-paying job at a multinational in the oil industry, and she kept returning to her reasons for pursuing acting.
Her 2026 film credits also include Okanjuwa, directed by Zulumoke Oyibo, which What Kept Me Up reported opened in cinemas on 22 May 2026 and was listed for streaming on Kava from 23 July 2026.

Marriage to Stan Nze, a 2024 Post and the 2026 Vow Renewal
Obasi and Nze married in September 2021. Daily Trust reported that Nze had said they were together for three and a half years before the wedding. In September 2023 the couple announced that they were expecting their first child, and Legit.ng reported on 20 October 2023 that they had shared news of the birth of a son.
On 13 February 2024, THEWILL reported an Instagram post in which Obasi explained why she married later in life. Responding to a conversation about the pressures facing single women, she described the delay as a deliberate process of self-discovery and resilience, and ended with the line “your life, your pace, your story.”
The couple renewed their vows in Lagos on 11 September 2026, five years after the wedding. Benin Web TV reported on 13 September 2026 that the ceremony took place by the water and was attended by family, friends and film-industry colleagues, and that each spouse reaffirmed their commitment in a speech.
