Ruth Kadiri Biography

Ruth Kadiri Biography: State of Origin, Age, Children, Net Worth, Husband

Posted on June 24, 2026

Ruth Kadiri Ezerika is one of Nollywood’s most accomplished and multi-faceted personalities, an actress, screenwriter, film producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who has built one of the most comprehensive creative careers in contemporary Nigerian cinema.

Born on March 24, 1988, in Benin City, Edo State, she grew up in the tough Ajegunle district of Lagos before channelling the resilience that environment demanded into a fiercely determined professional journey that has produced over 100 film appearances, dozens of produced and written projects, a successful YouTube production platform, and a net worth that places her among the wealthiest Nigerian actresses of her generation.

What distinguishes Ruth Kadiri in a crowded industry is the breadth of her creative contribution. She is not simply an actress who performs in other people’s stories, she writes her own, produces her own, and distributes them directly to millions of viewers through her own YouTube channel, RuthKadiri247.

Her mentorship of younger Nollywood talents, including actors like Chidi Dike and Maurice Sam, reflects a commitment to the health of the entire ecosystem rather than simply her individual career.

That generosity of vision, combined with a fierce determination and an instinctive understanding of what Nigerian audiences want, has made her one of the most significant individuals in Nollywood today.

Early Life

Ruth Kadiri was born on March 24, 1988, in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, the first of two children of Desmond Kadiri.

Her father worked outside Nigeria for much of her childhood, and she was raised primarily by her mother in the Ajegunle area of Lagos. Ajegunle is one of Lagos’s most densely populated and economically challenging neighbourhoods, and the experience of growing up there instilled in Ruth a drive and toughness that she has credited as foundational to her professional determination.

She wrote down her life goals in a jotter at age 18, including owning her own apartment and being financially independent, aspirations her father laughed at when he discovered them, and that she subsequently achieved. Her younger sister, Precious Ehis Kadiri, is also a Nollywood film producer and CEO of Flore Beddings.

Education

Ruth Kadiri completed her primary and secondary education in Benin City. She moved to Lagos for higher education, attending Yaba College of Technology where she earned a National Diploma in Business Administration.

She subsequently enrolled at the University of Lagos, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication.

She also completed training in scriptwriting, which she pursued out of a specific desire to develop her skills as a story creator rather than solely as a performer.

Career

Ruth Kadiri’s acting career began at Wale Adenuga Studios, where she was given her first significant opportunity.

Her first screen appearance was in the Nollywood film Boys Cot, in which she performed alongside established stars including Ini Edo, Uche Jombo, Rita Dominic, and Jim Iyke.

Having gained visibility through that debut, she wrote her first script, Wild and Dirty, which she sold to another producer, her first experience as a writer in the industry.

She has spoken about the challenges she faced as a woman in Nollywood, including gender bias and rejection, which she overcame through consistent output and a refusal to accept the industry’s limitations as permanent.

Her breakthrough as a widely recognised performer came with In Your Arms (2017), which told a story of domestic violence and abuse and displayed her emotional range and willingness to engage with difficult social subject matter.

She followed this with an avalanche of productions in which she was simultaneously actress, writer, and producer.

Her productions include Matters Arising, Heart of a Fighter, Over the Edge, WET, Memory Lane, and many others distributed through her YouTube channel RuthKadiri247, which has accumulated millions of views across hundreds of productions.

Her platform has become one of Nollywood’s most important direct-to-audience channels, bypassing traditional theatrical and broadcast distribution to reach viewers directly. Her mentorship and production of actors including Chidi Dike, whose Better Half generated 14 million YouTube views in 2023, demonstrated her eye for talent and her ability to shape breakout careers.

She is the founder of the Ruth Kadiri Foundation, through which she has provided school materials to children in Delta State and sponsored educational opportunities for young Nigerians from disadvantaged backgrounds. She owns a mansion in Lekki, Lagos, and operates the online hair store Ruthkolors as a parallel business venture.

She maintained privacy about her personal life throughout her career, and her family continues to be kept largely out of the public eye.

She is a Christian of Edo heritage and has been candid in interviews about overcoming personal and professional adversity.

Net Worth

Ruth Kadiri’s net worth is estimated at between $1 million and $1.5 million, accumulated through over a decade of acting fees, film production income from her YouTube platform, brand endorsements, speaking engagements, her hair business Ruthkolors, and real estate including her Lekki residence. She is consistently cited among the wealthiest Nigerian actresses.

Conclusion

Ruth Kadiri Ezerika’s story is one of the most inspiring in Nollywood history, a self-determined young woman from Ajegunle who refused to accept the industry’s barriers and built instead a creative empire that encompasses performance, writing, production, distribution, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy.

Her career demonstrates that the most lasting careers in Nollywood belong to those who create their own opportunities rather than waiting for them to arrive, and her platform has changed the economic model for Nigerian digital film in ways that other creators are still learning to replicate.
