Early Life
Mo Farah was born Hussein Abdi Kahin on March 23, 1983, in Gabiley, in what was then the Somali Democratic Republic and is now Somaliland.
His father, Amran Farah, died in the Somaliland War of Independence when Hussein was four years old, and he was subsequently separated from his mother.
